01 What this is#

Waitin Zone turns a URL into a short w8.nz code and redirects anyone who follows it. Using the site, with or without an account, means accepting what is on this page.

You keep whatever rights you have in the destinations you shorten. We claim none of them.

02 Plans and quotas#

Anyone can create up to twenty-five six-character links per month without an account, per network address. A free account adds fifty five-character links and one hundred six-character links each month. Paid plans add shorter codes and higher ceilings; the current numbers are on the pricing section and are what the service actually enforces.

Monthly counters use the UTC calendar month and turn over together at 00:00 UTC on its first day. Quotas are counted per length — spending your four-character allowance does not touch your five-character one — and codes you choose yourself spend a separate counter again.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you are. We may change prices; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

03 Codes you choose yourself#

On Scale you may pick the code rather than be given one. Three to thirty-two characters, letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores.

Choosing a code does not give you any right to the word in it. In particular you may not register a code in order to pass yourself off as somebody else — a brand, a bank, a person, a public body — or one whose obvious reading misleads about where the link goes. w8.nz/paypal-login pointing anywhere other than PayPal is the case this clause exists for.

Codes that do that are reclaimed without notice and without refund, and repeat attempts close the account. Names that would shadow a page on this site are refused outright when you try to register them.

A code is reserved while the account that made it is in good standing. It is not property, it cannot be sold, and it returns to the pool if you delete it or if the account is closed.

04 Changing where a link points#

Scale accounts can repoint an existing code at a new destination, keeping the code and its click history. This is meant for the case it was built for: a code already printed on something you cannot recall.

The new destination is screened exactly like a new link. Repointing a code from something harmless to something that would have been refused is a straightforward breach of section 06, and it is treated as more serious than posting the bad link in the first place, because it abuses trust already given.

05 API tokens and automated use#

Paid plans can create API tokens. A token is a credential: treat it exactly as you would a password, keep it out of front-end code and out of public repositories, and revoke it in the dashboard the moment you suspect it has been seen.

Everything done with your token is done by you. Per-minute rate limits go with the plan and are per account rather than per token, so extra tokens do not buy extra throughput.

The free plan cannot create tokens. Automating link creation without one — scripting the browser form, or working around the human check — is not allowed.

06 Acceptable use#

Every destination is checked against Google Safe Browsing before a code is issued. That check is not a guarantee, and a link existing is not our endorsement of where it goes.

You may not shorten links to malware, phishing, or material that is illegal where it is hosted or where it is read; use w8.nz links in unsolicited bulk messaging; disguise a destination in order to mislead; or use the service to attack anyone, including us.

Links confirmed as malicious are removed and their codes retired rather than recycled, and the account behind them may be closed without refund. Report anything from the abuse page — a person reads every report.

07 Your account is yours to guard#

You are responsible for what happens under your credentials. Two-factor authentication is available on every plan including the free one and takes about a minute to set up. Changing your password signs out every device.

One account per person or organisation. Creating several to multiply free quota is a breach of this section.

08 What happens when a plan lapses#

Three stages, and the first two are reversible:

• Days 1–7 — grace. Everything works exactly as before, including your paid code lengths.
• Days 8–14 — suspended. Links show a paused page instead of redirecting. Nothing is deleted, the codes are still reserved for you, and renewing restores every link.
• After day 14 — recycled. Links are deleted permanently and their codes go back into the pool for anyone to be issued.

Free accounts never lapse and their links are never recycled.

09 Payment, cancelling and refunds#

Payment runs through Vapih Pay and Dodo Payments. Card details never reach us. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.

Cancel any time from the billing portal. Cancelling stops the renewal, not the plan: you keep everything until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then the timeline in section 08 begins.

We do not refund part-used periods as a matter of course. If something on our side went wrong, ask — that is a different conversation. Accounts closed for section 06 are not refunded.

10 Availability#

Waitin Zone runs on Cloudflare Workers and is provided as-is. We do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee on any plan, including Scale. We would rather say that plainly than sell a number we cannot enforce against our own host.

If a link matters enough that an outage would be costly, do not rely on any single shortener — ours included. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

11 Ending it#

You can close your account at any time from Dashboard → Security → Close my account. It is immediate and it takes your links with it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not deliberate and not dangerous we will say what is wrong first.

12 Changes, and reaching us#

The date at the top of this page is when the current version took effect. Material changes will be described rather than quietly folded in, and the date will move. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance.
